There was a moment when you could put any crazy idea on Kickstarter and still find some open minded people to back you up. However, in an effort to actually help creativity and discourage pure laziness, a set of new rules has been enforced recently. We are going to take a look today at some of the most absurd campaigns that have actually been supported.

Out of laziness or perhaps curiosity, Zack Brown decided to get his project funded on the renowned platform. But don’t think about something revolutionary in terms of science or gastronomy; no, this guy started a campaign to raise $10 in order to make a plain potato salad. The last time we’ve checked he raised almost $10,000 with a few days left until the countdown.

Lionel Richie is a famous songwriter, actor, musician, singer, and record producer with many fans around the world. Well, some of his British fans managed to raise around $13,000 to make an enormous inflatable sculpture of the artist’s head.

We guess it’s every girl’s dream to feel absolutely free and party all night in the club, even in those “special” days of the month and some guys had the crazy idea of creating a pair of invisible panties. While this particular project did not raise a lot of support, it ended up with 6 backers and a total of $130.

Pirate pancake griddle

We all love our pancakes with a good cup of coffee and some orange juice in the morning but what if the delicious treats had a pirate flag on each side? Well, the Pirate Pancake Griddle gained a lot of support and ended up raising almost $18,630. People who paid the whole $93 even got their own models while the other had to settle for a file to print with a 3D printer.

Writing dumb stuff in the sky

Some campaigns make you wonder if they are real or not, but we assure you this one is. One Kickstarter enthusiast managed to raise around $7,000 in order to hire another guy with a plane with the sole purpose of writing dumb stuff on the sky. “OMG I’m flying” is just one example.

Who doesn’t like squirrels? Well, we believe Josh O’Conner and his team or “researchers” took people’s affection for these creatures to the very next level. They raised about $9,000 to crate inforgraphic posters backed by data gathered in Atlanta, GA on park squirrels. Backers that donated $30 actually got the poster.

Miley Cyrus became very famous in these last few years. So famous that a guy called Daniel Bañaga achieved his goal of raising $300 to design 20 t-shirts of the celebrity twerking with her tongue out.

Floating swimming pool

How does the idea of having a floating swimming pool inside a river sound? Well, a person had it and managed to raise $16,000 past his goal on Kickstarter. This project will be available for people in New York City starting 2016.

Bring a Tardis into orbit

This is for all of those “Dr. Who” fans out there. A Kickstarter project managed to gather around $90,000 in order to put a Tardis into orbit. Where the project was abandoned or still ongoing, nobody knows because the official twitter page hasn’t been updated since February.

Flying bicycle

The movie ET made quite an impression with its moon scene, and apparently some guys decided to create a Kickstarter campaign in order to create a flying bicycle. Even though it was backed by almost 153 people, it didn’t manage to reach its goal unfortunately.
